The Deadly Dozen Conquers Cape Town
Saturday, 22nd March 2025 was a huge milestone for Deadly Dozen—we took the race beyond the UK for the first time, landing in Cape Town, South Africa. With over 200 competitors ready to take on the challenge, the energy was electric, and the stage was set for an unforgettable day of fitness, determination, and community spirit.
A Historic Finish: Fastest Time Set by a Female Athlete
History was made in Cape Town as Danel Louw (44:35) clocked the fastest time of the day, becoming the first female athlete to take the overall win at a Deadly Dozen event. Her display of strength, endurance, and smart race strategy had the crowd on their feet, setting an incredible benchmark for future races.
Not far behind, Conrad Herbst put in a powerhouse performance, securing the fastest male time of 46:34.
Cape Town proved that Deadly Dozen is a race where athletes of all backgrounds and abilities can shine—and this is just the beginning.
Outstanding Support from Volunteer Judges
The heart of every Deadly Dozen event is its volunteer judges, and Cape Town was no exception. More than just keeping the race fair, they went the extra mile to encourage, push, and uplift every competitor.
One of the standout moments of the day? The judges rallying the crowd to cheer for the final solo female finisher, making sure she crossed that line with the energy and support she deserved. It was a true testament to the camaraderie that makes this race so special.
Unpredictable Weather, Perfect for Racing
Cape Town’s famous sunshine took a break, with cooler, overcast conditions greeting the athletes. While unexpected for March, the weather turned out to be ideal for racing, helping competitors maintain strong paces without the challenge of extreme heat.
Medals & Finisher Goodies That Inspire Future Champions
Crossing the finish line was just the beginning of the celebration. Every athlete received a coveted Deadly Dozen medal, with this event marking the first time gold Mori medals were awarded to solo winners.
And to top it off, Primal Nutrition, one of the event sponsors, made sure every finisher got a high-quality recovery snack—a much-needed boost after pushing through the race.
Global Team Effort: HQ Meets Local Expertise
This event was a success thanks to the seamless collaboration between Bex & Pippa from Deadly Dozen HQ and local Race Directors Cameron & Malleen. Their combined expertise and passion brought the event to life, setting a high standard for future international races.
Next Stop: Johannesburg – Bigger and Better
The next race in South Africa is taking place in Johannesburg—where over 500 competitors are expected to take on the Deadly Dozen challenge.
With more athletes, more excitement, and a growing community, Johannesburg is set to be even bigger, bolder, and more intense.
Final Thoughts: A Legacy Begins
This was more than just a race—it was the start of a global movement. From record-breaking performances to unforgettable moments of support and camaraderie, Cape Town proved that the spirit of Deadly Dozen has no borders.
The journey continues, and the world is ready.
See you at the starting line in Johannesburg!
